‘’Beauty is not in being opulent’’ muses Yasemin Bibin, ‘’but in the state of being raw and timeless’’
british artist and fashion designer Yasemin Bibin was born in Istanbul. ‘’An ancient metropolis’’ she calls it, which inspires in her an ability to merge the orient and the occident. She moved to London in 2001 to study textile design at Central St. Martins.
Bibin’s signature work is far from ordinary. Her technique developed with her graduate collection, which involves creating textiles from photographing light effects on intricate sculptures that she has built from Legos. Her prints developed from ink drawings and photographic collage are reminiscent of psychedelic space stations. These playful transformations from 3D to 2D and back again can be found throughout her artistic practice.
In year 2008 she had worked closely with the Alexander McQueen menswear team and her prints were featured as show pieces at the 08-09 F/W catwalk in Milan.
Following her love affair with the antique textiles she went on to work with renowned antique dealer and collector Joss Graham at his gallery in Belgrevia, immersed herself in an Aladdin’s Cave of indigenous artefacts and textile masterpieces from around the world.
As a wanderlust traveller drifting towards new corners of the world she fell in love with Goa when she first visited and been spending her time over the winter months in there engaged in her design work where IMAGINE was born, as a diffusion line of her name sake design company, that offersmore affordable resort and leisure wear. Highly intricate handprinted designs on luxurious fine modal and cotton jerseys, drawing inspiration from worldwide indigenous heritage which are produced at an artisanal atelier in Istanbul. with its luminescent and colourful pastel tones meets smoky hues each design is hand drawn and created in a way that that brings forth a different layer to viewer in changing lights and creates movement. Her clothes are much loved among the luxury minded globetrotters and found in many boutiques in North Goa, London, Ibiza and California.

IMAGINE by Yasemin Bibin is a British designer brand by Yasemin Bibin presenting collections once a year. It is womens and menswear lines inspired from indigenous heritage around the world. Collections are described as a new approach to Leisure-Resort and Active-Wear.The brand principally uses rich print designs with colourful symmetries, meticulously printed by hand on fine jersey materials. Primary influence of inspirations emerge from global multiethnic native origins, their rituals and lore. It is a generation of latent conscious coding of feelings into urban design wear which appeals to people who love exploring life with its rich diversities.
As IMAGINE name thrives over the idea of subconscious, it researches the hidden meaning of ancestral art forms and patterns. The colour combinations of the prints used are an articulation of the cosmic journey as a luminous communication in parts and as subtle intonations in further variations. The use of colour brings forth the hidden aspects of the patterns and appear as a different kind of communication with each execution. The combinations and varieties used are kept limited in belief that the certain combination of design, colour and material relate to a specific person in that particular space and time.
